3/14/2024 0 Comments Aria con variazioni trumpet solo![]() ![]() Now, everyone I’ve ever known has SOME movement of the bell especially with big jumps but the idea is that you want to minimize that movement as much as possible. ![]() Again, this is an indication that you are relying on something other than your lip to make a jump, in this case the position of the mouthpiece on your lip muscles. It may seem silly at first but it’s one of the quickest and most effective ways to get an interval and even a passage down pat and in your head and lips.ģ: This is a more long term thing but bears saying- try to minimize movement of your bell up and down when jumping intervals. You can even buy this thing called a “burpee” which is a little plastic thing you screw onto your lead pipe to put your mouthpiece in instead of your lead pipe so you can practice just buzzing sections of things. That will show you how much you are relying on your horn instead of your lip and ear. Take out your mouthpiece and try holding it with two fingers and buzzing the interval. ![]() If the jump is huge you should literally see your jaw and mouth moving in the mirror.Ģ: Don’t rely on the horn itself to make the jump. To help your mouth make the necessary shapes try the “E” sound sound as in “need” for the higher note and “Ah” sound as in “paw” for the lower note. I have taught trumpet lessons for 15 years and these are some things I would strongly recommend =]ġ: Using tongue and jaw raising and lowering to go from high to low. ![]()
